Chairman's Note

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are all approaching our well-deserved summer holidays. I sincerely hope that in the coming weeks you can enjoy new discoveries, new places, and some pleasant rest.

Upon our return, we will be on the eve of our ESCL Conference and Workshop 2025, which, as you know, will be held in beautiful Naples on September 26th and 27th, 2025.

The program has been complete for some time, with the latest new details that I invite you to read at the link provided in our newsletter.

I encourage you to register as soon as possible: the complementary activities and, in particular, our dinners, are almost fully booked, while a few spots are still available for our Conference. As mentioned, the conference will take place in a beautiful room built in the 1800s which, unlike larger and more anonymous conference rooms in prestigious hotels, has limited seating.

As you may recall, this year, for the first time, we will host the ESCL Workshop dedicated to “Cultural aspects in the use of ADR in Construction Disputes.” This is a wonderful opportunity to delve deeper with stellar speakers into the impact that cultural context can have on the adoption and use of ADR in the construction sector. Again, since the Workshop is designed for in-depth discussion and limited to 20 participants, we are close to closing registrations.

Beyond the ESCL Conference and Workshop, I would like to inform you that, with a view to continuous updates, we are currently updating the Standard Treatises for each individual country adhering to the ESCL. In these sections, you can find the most important references for studying the relevant national legislation.

Finally, I am pleased to highlight the particular proactivity of the German Society, which will organize its General Assembly on July 11th, 2025, and on the same day, the “German Working Group regarding international construction law.”

Therefore, I wish you happy holidays and look forward to seeing you soon in September, and then in Naples!

Best regards,

Roberto Panetta
Chairman of Council, ESCL
