Chairman's Note

Dear Members of the European Society of Construction Law (ESCL),

2024 is drawing to a close: it has been an important year for ESCL, marked by numerous opportunities for meetings and in-depth discussions. This was the case with our webinars, which offered the chance to analyze fundamental topics such as the adoption of artificial intelligence in construction contracts and the “offshore explosive ordnance clearance as European challenge”. It was also the case with events organized internationally, such as the SCL Astra International Conference 2024, and domestically, such as the seminar on dispute boards in the Italian legal system or the event on "Building better. Construction relationships: Insights from Law and Social Theory" organized by the University of Adelaide (Australia) with the support of our ESCL. And then there was our ESCL Annual Conference on Design, held this year in Antwerp and superbly organized by the Belgian Society of Construction Law.

It has been a year full of events, and 2025 will be no different. We are currently planning new webinars starting in February, for which a dedicated committee has been formed for the first time; we are also finalizing the program for the ESCL Conference, which will take place on September 26, 2025 in Naples, as well as the first workshop, which will be held on September 27, immediately after the Annual Conference.

We will have much to discuss and work on. For now, we wish you a pleasant holiday season, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Warm regards,

Roberto Panetta
Chairman of Council, ESCL
